Paranormal Activty 3 MOVIE REVIEW

To prepare for the Halloween season and the upcoming Paranormal Activity 4, we are going to GET IN THE MOOD and review Paranormal Activity 3 (2011).

The third chapter in this popular franchise brings lots of the same to the table, and still manages to keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Paranormal Activity 3 acts as a prequel to the previous two installments.  This time around Katie and Kristi are young girls living with their mother Julie and their mother's boyfriend Dennis.  While filming an intimate scene with Julie, there is what seems like an earthquake that causes Dennis, who tapes weddings for a living, to go back and view the tape.  He notices what looks like a shadowy figure in the background.  After the earthquake, Kristi begins to see and talk to an imaginary friend named Toby.  As the movie progresses, we learn more and more about how this "curse" that has lasted nearly 20 years began.  Like the others, we get plenty of doors slammed shut, kids dragged across the floor, and shadowy figures appearing in the background.  I do feel these type of films are predictable at times (maybe it's because I've watched too many horror movies).  But I will say that the ending is very shocking and that I did not see it coming.  It will leave you hanging, hoping that maybe we will get more info connecting numbers 3 to 1 in the upcoming fourth installment.  I was intrigued with this movie and remained on the edge of my seat the whole time.  Some may feel that this franchise has already run it's course, but I feel that both sequels so far have been better than the original so I say keep them coming.
...AND SIMPLY PUT IF YOU LIKED THE PREVIOUS INSTALLMENTS DON'T STOP NOW.  B-
