Looper MOVIE REVIEW

It's been a while since we've had a good time travel movie, but the genre looks like it has found it's way back.

Looper is a sci-fi thriller that takes place in the year 2044.  The story follows Joe Simmons, a looper who works for a mafia type organization.  Now what is a looper?  Well that's where we go 30 years into the future where time travel has been invented and outlawed.  The mafia organizations send those that they want killed to the year 2044 to be killed by assassins called loopers.  Everything is going good for 2044 Joe, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, until the day he encounters his older self who was sent back to 2044 to be killed.  When the mafia bosses want to end a looper's contract, they send the looper's future self back in time to be killed by the looper's younger self and this known as "closing the loop."  Young Joe hesitates when he sees his future self and allows for Old Joe, played by Bruce Willis, to get away.  Now Joe has to track down his future self while his fellow looper's are out to get both Joes.  The first half of this movie is amazing and keeps you on the edge of your seat.  The second half isn't exactly what I expected, but I was still satisfied.  The story is original and unpredictable in every sense of the word.  Even though I felt Bruce Willis was a little underused, he, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt all bring their A-game.
