Dr. No MOVIE REVIEW

To prepare for the upcoming James Bond movie Skyfall, we are going to
GET IN THE MOOD and review Dr. No (1962).

The first Bond movie gets the franchise off to a decent start, with one of the best Bonds and one of the best Bond girls to date.
Released in 1962, Dr. No was the beginning of what would become a 50 year franchise of over 20 Bond films.  The film takes place in Jamaica where a British Intelligence operative named Strangeway is killed.  British agent, James Bond (Sean Connery), is sent to investigate and he finds out that Strangeway was looking into high radiation readings coming from a nearby island.  Bond heads to the island along with a Jamaican agent.  While sneaking around the island, Bond meets Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress), a diver who is collecting shells and decides to help out.  We find out that the mastermind behind this whole plot is Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman), a man who is trying to sabotage an American space shuttle launch.  Overall, I feel this movie is decent and in the top half of Bond films.  There are a lot of good qualities to this movie.  Connery is great here as Bond, Ursula Andress is one of the most beautiful Bond girls to date, and Dr. No is one of the best villains, but the film does feel dated to me.  The majority of the supporting cast is very weak in the acting category which makes the dialogue sound corny.  This film doesn't have much action, but Connery is what keeps you watching.  But things do pick up once Bond gets to the island, especially once we get to the scenes involving Bond and Dr. No.  While the story is decent, the main cast saves the movie for me.
...AND SIMPLY PUT CHECK IT OUT TO SEE WHY CONNERY IS SO GOOD AS BOND. B-
