Silent Hill MOVIE REVIEW

To prepare for the upcoming sequel Silent Hill: Revelation, we are going to
GET IN THE MOOD and review the original Silent Hill (2006).
This video game adaptation does have its problems, but it's not half bad.

Silent Hill, based on the popular video game franchise, brings the creepiness from the games and it makes for an interesting movie.  It's starts off with Rose (Radha Mitchell) and her adopted daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland).  Sharon sleepwalks at night and more recently she walks to the edge of a cliff while saying "Silent Hill".  Rose, not listening to her husband (Sean Bean), decides to leave one night and take Sharon to Silent Hill, now an abandoned ghost town, in hopes of helping her.  Along the way, they attract the attention of motorcycle cop Officer Cybil Bennett (Laurie Holden) who pursues them.  Outside soon becomes foggy as Rose sees a little girl crossing the street and quickly swerves the car out of the way and blacks out.  When she awakens, Sharon is gone and Officer Bennett arrives and wants to know what happened to the girl.  With Rose now in custody, Officer Bennett tries to head back the way they came only to find out that the road just stops.  With only one way to go now, they head towards Silent Hill to find Sharon.  This is where things begin to get a little more weird.  We get crazy townspeople, witch burnings, weird looking creatures, and a guy with a pyramid shaped head swinging an ax.  So what gives?  It all seems like some kinda of bad nightmare, but it all comes together by the end...well sort of.  The plot here is hard to follow and understand completely.  I have not played the games so I don't know if I'm missing something or not.  Either way, I enjoyed the movie nonetheless.  The dialogue can sometimes be hard to sit through and the acting isn't great by any means, but the visuals are great and the CGI when used is pretty cool.  I do feel that this movie probably could have shed about 20-30 minutes of running time, but all in all its a fun film with some interesting creatures.
...AND SIMPLY PUT WORTH WATCHING. C+
