People Like Us MOVIE REVIEW

It's a movie that could have had everything resolved everything in 15 minutes, but adds a little charm and heart to keep me entertained.

People Like Us is a well-acted, under the radar drama about a struggling salesman named Sam (Chris Pine) dealing with the death of his father.  While growing up, Sam and his father were never really close.  Upon reading his father's will, Sam is instructed to deliver the $150,000 left from his father to Frankie (Elizabeth Banks), his step sister that he never knew about.  Sam debates if he should do as his father wished or keep the money for himself and his financial debts.  He soon follows Frankie to an AA meeting to find out more information about her.  He finds out that she, like him, didn't have much of a relationship with their father.  Sam spends more time with Frankie and her 11 year old son Josh and he delays telling her the truth.  As the lies continue, the drama begins and leaves you with an emotional finale.  Pine, Banks, and Michelle Pfieffer, who plays Sam's mother, all bring emotion and heart to their characters.  Everybody is perfectly casted, with Elizabeth Banks being the stand out here, showing when she's not in goofy comedies that she can bring her A game.  This movie does start off a little slow, but it gives you time to connect with the characters and by the end you will be.
...AND SIMPLY PUT GIVE IT A CHANCE IT'S WORTH IT. B
