Argo MOVIE REVIEW

As a director, Ben Affleck is now 3 for 3 with this not so "little movie".

Argo is Ben Affleck's third attempt at directing and once again does another great job.  Like his second time around with The Town, he is also the lead in this one and his acting is very good, but his directing the standout here.  Based on true events, this film takes place during the Iranian hostage crisis at the U.S. Embassy in Iran during the late 70's.  During the take over at the embassy, six Americans were able to sneak out and secretly hide out at the Canadian Embassy.  This is where CIA extractor Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes in to play.  He needs to figure out how to get these people out of the country safely, so he comes up with a plan to make a fake movie and tell Iranians that the six were apart of the movie crew just scouting locations for the film in Iran and need to go back to North America.  With the help from movie producer Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin) and John Chambers (John Goodman), this "fake movie" named Argo becomes a reality.  Once Mendez lands in Iran, the movie really picks up and builds towards the on the edge of your seat finale.  This set movie is very well made from start to finish.  It can be suspenseful one minute followed by a hilarious one-liner the next.  Arkin and Goodman are great together throughout the film, delivering the majority of the funny lines.  As good as Arkin and Goodman were in this film, we also get a memorable performance from Bryan Cranston's supporting role as Mendez's CIA supervisor.  All-in-all I can't say enough about this film, except this is definitely one of the best films of the year and should see some nominations come award season.
...AND SIMPLY PUT VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A
