MOVIE REVIEW: Silver Linings Playbook

 Silver Linings Playbook
(2012)
Summary
Life doesn't always go according to plan. Pat Solatano has lost everything - his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat's parents want is for him to get back on his feet - and to share their family's obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.

Review
In 'Silver Linings Playbook', Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence play two people that have problems that stem from their families and their previous relationships.  But when they find each other they realize that they know what the other one is going through and that they might not be that different.  From the very beginning when Pat arrives back home, you come home with him.  The story feels so real and believable that you feel as if you're apart of this family.  The cast in this film is excellent and Bradley Cooper is the best that he's ever been, with his fast-talking sometimes funny lines that he delivers flawlessly.  Jennifer Lawrence is crazy good as well. With her random outbursts throughout the movie, she can be very heartfelt one minute and show her crazy side the next.  Jennifer has really made a name for herself in the last two years and she ends 2012 with her best performance of her career.  Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver play Bradley Cooper's parents in this one and they are excellent.  Robert De Niro has FINALLY returned and shown how good he can be.  He is the football obsessed father of Bradley Cooper's Pat, who realizes he might be to blame for Pat's problems and now wants to spend time with his son.  Also returning is the very likable Chris Tucker, who helps bring a little comedic relief in this sometimes dramatic rom-com.  David O. Russell has done a very good job with the screenplay as well as acting as the director.  Like he did in 'The Fighter', he introduces you to a group of characters, captures the emotion, makes you care about them, and makes you feel right at home.  This isn't your everyday run of the mill romantic comedy, because this film excels in every way possibly and with the cast it has, it is a film that you will want to rewatch more than once.
...AND SIMPLY PUT... IT IS ONE OF THE BEST OF THE YEAR.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A+
