...AND SIMPLY PUT...'s Top 50 of 2012 (40-31)

After seeing 150+ films released in 2012, I have compiled a list of The Top 50 Movies of 2012.
Part 1 (50-41), Part 2 (40-31), Part 3 (30-21), Part 4 (20-11), Part 5 (10-1)

#40
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man is a successful reboot to the Spider-Man franchise and although it may have some faults with pacing, this cast gives me hope that this will potentially be even better than the original trilogy.

#39
Arbitrage
Arbitrage is a good little thriller that went under the radar, but it deserves more attention for its compelling story and a very good performance from Richard Gere.

#38
Bernie
Bernie is a dark comedy based on a true story.  Its way of using interviews from the real townspeople is an interesting way of storytelling and Jack Black shines in the role of Bernie.

#37
Magic Mike
Magic Mike shouldn't be judged by what you think its about.  The male stripping is part of the story, yes, but the movie is very well done and there is more than meets the eye.

#36
Lawless
Lawless has an all-star cast in this sometimes bloody drama about brothers who are in the bootlegging business.  The cast is solid, but Guy Pearce delivers one of the best villains of the year.

#35
Compliance
Compliance, like a few others on the list, was another film that went under the radar.  The fact that it's based on true events makes it even harder to watch, but regardless I think it's important that more people watch this film so the things that happened don't happen again.  It's well done with a great performance from Ann Dowd.

#34
 The Cabin in the Woods
The Cabin in the Woods is a smart and sometimes ridiculously funny original horror film.  It brings out all of the classic horror movie cliches and delivers definitely one of the most enjoyable horror movies ever.

#33
The Intouchables
The Intouchables is a French dramedy based on a true story with a great cast.  The chemistry between the two leads is there and although there is a decent amount of drama, the comedy is there when it needs to be to make The Intouchables an all around feel good film.

#32
Killer Joe
Killer Joe is a dark film and a hard film to sell at that.  Sometimes it is very crude and graphic, but at the same time very real.  Similar to the movie Compliance this year, it might be hard to watch for some, but if you can stomach it, Matthew McConaughey delivers a dark and twisted performance, that along with all of his roles this year proves the guy can act.

#31
Flight
Flight goes further than just a pilot who was drunk landing a plane.  It goes into alcoholism and drug use and it gives us an excellent portrayal of both touchy subjects with the help of great performances from Denzel Washington and Kelly Reillly.  The movie is pretty good overall, but the actors carry the film and make it  even better.
